Some Tips About Mold

- Solve moisture problems before they become mold problems.
- Mold can grow within 24-48 hours of the initial water problem.
- Remember that every mold problem is a water problem first.
- The amount of mold indoors should be less than the amount of mold outside.
- Install a whole-house/building dehumidifier, ventilator, and filtration. A system that is parallel with the air conditioner is recommended. At the very least, install a $200 dehumidifier in the basement and insert a garden hose drain to the outside so you don’t have to empty the bucket daily.
- The best means of preventing mold is to deny the spores the moisture necessary for germination.
- Mold growth occurs when water problems go unresolved.
- If you find mold: “when in doubt, throw it out.”
- Bleach only kills some topical mold spores on hard surfaces.
- Mold is an allergen whether it’s dead or alive.
- Mold will come back no matter how well you clean or how well you use an inhibitor, if the area is allowed to become moist again!
- Always keep the central heating and air system operating. This will maintain proper circulation and relative humidity.
- If a substantial leak occurs, hire a professional drying company to remove the water and dry the structure. Remco Solutions provides state of the art drying services.
- Do not fall prey to companies that utilize methods such as fogging and or encapsulation as alternatives to traditional remediation.
Clearance Testing
Remco Solutions, Inc requires the practice of clearance testing following all mold remediation projects. This standard protects all parties involved with the project. By administering this test, the customer has documented proof that the remediation has been performed correctly. Clearance testing provides both the customer and the contractor with documentation that the project has been completed successfully. The testing will be administered by a testing firm that is in no way affiliated with Remco Solutions, Inc. We at Remco Solutions, Inc. believe it is crucial for clearance testing to be performed by an independent company. This standard will ensure the customer true, unbiased test results.
